Off Broadway School of Fine Arts Director

David L'Hommedieu
David helped found Off Broadway School of Fine Arts and has been involved with programming since its inception. He brings a lifetime of musical experience as a singer and guitarist from opera companies to rock bands and boy choirs to new music ensembles. Frequent appearances across the front-range as a concert soloist have enabled David, a baritone, to cultivate a diverse repertoire. A few recent solo performances include baritone roles in Orff’s Carmina Burana, Dvorak’s Te Deum, Barber's Dover Beach, Stravinsky's Les Noces, The Messiah, Faure's Requiem, Bach's St. Mathew Passion, and Serenade to Music by Vaughn Williams. Just as at home on the opera stage, David has performed principle roles with Loveland Opera Theater, Colorado Light Opera, The Hillman Opera, as well as numerous roles with CU Opera where he earned a Master’s of Music while studying with Patrick Mason.

Bjorn Arvidsson (Voice)
Bjorn Arvidsson is an established opera and concert singer who is known for his versatility, his expressive voice, dramatic ability and flawless use of language. Bjorn has sung more than 60 roles in opera, operetta and oratorio all over the world. He has been an active professional singer for over 20 years. Highlights have included Welsh National Opera in Cardiff, the Festival d’Aix en Provence, France, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and La Fenice, Venice, as well as recent concerts in Texas, California and Colorado. During this time he has maintained a private studio and held a graduate teaching assistanceship while completing his Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy, at The University of Colorado Boulder. He received his pedagogical training with noted professors Dr. Patti Peterson and Prof Patrick Mason as well as Prof Laura Sarti in London. Bjorn continues to perform internationally as well as teaching at his private studio and at Off Broadway School of Fine Arts in Boulder.

Virginia Arnette (Yoga for Musicians, French Horn)
A professionally trained musician and yogi, Virginia Arnette is intrigued by the process of mastery. Virginia was initially drawn to yoga as a horn player with aspirations of improving mental focus and enhancing her breath. While her yoga practice quickly revealed itself as a means to physical and spiritual wellness, Virginia found the mutual benefits of her yoga and musical practices to be manifold. Through her Yoga for Musicians series, Virginia aims to offer an experience that synthesizes tools she has learned as a musician, yogi, Alexander technique student and client of sports psychology. Virginia strives to empower musicians to improve their performance by offering a means to balance the body and focus the mind. Virginia holds a Bachelor’s degree in French horn performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her primary horn teachers include Michael Thornton and Randy Gardner. She began her path as a yoga teacher with Om Time’s Tillai and Anjali teacher training programs, where she studied under Shannon Paige, Gina Caputo and Nancy-Kate Williams.

Ryan Connell (Piano, Organ, Composition)
In Spring 2004, Ryan Connell was invited to perform at the new original music festival of The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland, where he premiered his trumpet ensemble piece “Watta Flipt Watta” and his composition for string quintet, “…her image deeply lies…” In the past few years Ryan has focused on performing new classical music on the piano and organ, and writing and performing for PhoenixSong (a recital company specializing in the performance of American vocal music). He has returned to his birth state of Colorado, after moving away when he was eight months old. Ryan holds degrees from the University of Louisville in piano performance and music composition. He also studied at the Kentucky Institute of International Study in Salzburg, Austria. He is currently pursuing a masters degree in music composition at the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Lisa Muratore Beckelhymer (Piano)
Lisa loves to help families make music in their children’s early years, planting seeds for a lifelong love of music and family connection. She and her husband (and two mischievous kitties) recently relocated to Boulder from Dallas, where she was Kindermusik International’s most honored educator. She brings 20 years experience in music education as a Kindermusik Master Teacher and is CO certified in K-12 Music. She holds a BA in Music (Education, Piano, and Theory) from Azusa Pacific University, a Master of Music Education from Appalachian State, and a Master of Theology from Southern Methodist University. When she’s not teaching, you’ll find her on a trail, on a bike, at the Farmer’s Market, or out and about enjoying Boulder sunshine and views.

Justin Hoffenberg (Fiddle, Guitar, Violin, Ukulele)
Originally from Northern Illinois, Justin Hoffenberg grew up in a musical household, he attended many concerts as a child and was drawn towards music. At 10 years old Justin joined his 5th grade orchestra, where he played the violin for one year before beginning Suzuki lessons, which he pursued until graduating high school. After attending the Rockygrass festival in Lyons, CO, Justin never looked back. He played in bluegrass bands from the time that he was 13; professionally since he was 15 years old. While a senior in high school, Justin helped form Long Road Home, the bluegrass band with which he is still playing full time. When not with Long Road Home, you can find him playing with a variety of projects, across a variety of genres. He’s been known to appear with his Rock and Roll band, The Bimarinal, and even at times as a guest eTone on the eTown radio show (where he appeared with such acts as the Indigo Girls, Tim O’Brien, Big Al Anderson and the North Mississippi All Stars).

Originally from the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area, Emily now lives with her husband and Shiba Inu (named Meegosh) in Boulder, Colorado. She received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia, and her graduate degree in Music Education with a focus on Ethnomusicology (World Music) from The University of Colorado at Boulder. Well versed in Orff-Schulwerk, Kodály, and Dalcroze-Eurhythmic teaching methods, she taught in Jefferson County Public Schools at the Elementary level for four years. She is now the Director of Youth Education at the Pine Street Church in Boulder. In her spare time she enjoys playing the banjo, hiking, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. She says, "Children provide us with so much wisdom if we are just willing to listen. Young children sense so much wonder and joy in a world that they are just beginning to experience. It is our job as adults to give them great creative outlets so that they can express themselves and connect with others and our beautiful world in a healthy and meaningful way."

Josh Reed (Trumpet)
Josh Reed is a trumpet player and educator living in the Denver Metro area. He holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and James Madison University in Virginia, and is currently working on a DMA in Jazz Studies at CU Boulder. He has shared the stage with artists such as Dave Douglas, Brad Goode, Art Lande, Paquito D'Rivera, Rich Perry, Kate Gentile, Omar Thomas, and Darlene Love. He also recorded on the Snoop Dogg CD, 'Rhythm & Gangsta: The Masterpiece,' with Justin Timberlake and Charlie Wilson. Josh also teaches at Metropolitan State University in Denver. Josh has performed all over the world and spends his time actively teaching and performing throughout Colorado.

Melissa Williams (Music Theatre)
Melissa Williams is an active performer, instructor and director in Colorado. She is at home on the musical or classical stage as well as singing in several jazz ensembles in the area. She has played to sold out audiences with her one woman cabaret shows - most recently "Slipping Through My Fingers" which she takes to Boston this Fall. You may also have seen Melissa as the Mother Abbess in Off Broadway School of Fine Arts production of Sound of Music in March of 2015. As well as teaching voice privately, Melissa also stage directs shows with several local theatres including CenterStage Theater Company and Art Underground in Louisville. She has a passion for teaching students to communicate through musical singing and staging. Melissa holds an MM in Voice and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado studying with the late Barbara Doscher. She brings a broad background of instruction and performance experience to her classroom.
